The editorial
challenge.
World Education News & Reviews is WES’s research-focused publication on international education and global education mobility. Its researcher-authored content serves researchers and professionals working with education systems, admissions, and credential evaluation.
Its audience differs from the international students reached through WES Advisor. The website needed to support both following current research and returning to detailed country profiles and reference material.
My contribution combined UX and web design with a custom WordPress theme, integrations, and maintenance. The research and editorial content were produced by the publication’s researchers and contributors.
Browsing and
reference use.
A reader catching up on education trends can begin with the lead story, topic navigation, or archive. A specialist looking for information about a particular country can follow the education system profiles into detailed reference content.
The article view keeps the section, author, and publication date visible, with related reading alongside the main content. The gallery shows how the interface supports both browsing and more focused reading.
Editorial homepage
Featured reporting, topic navigation, newsletter access, and archived resources.
Country profiles
Long-form content with publication context, supporting imagery, and further reading.
Research resources
An example of WES editorial content supported by the platform: detailed education information presented for professional readers.
Support discovery
Bring feature stories, topic navigation, and archived content into one browsing experience.
Give articles structure
Make room for authorship, dates, detailed reporting, and related resources.
Connect the platform
Support publication workflows with WordPress, third-party services, and ongoing maintenance.
Readers and
editors.
The publication serves readers who need both timely reporting and deeper reference material.
Researchers in international education
Follow research on education systems and global education mobility, and return to country profiles and reference resources.
Admissions & credential specialists
Explore country profiles and practical information related to international qualifications.
The editorial team
Publish varied stories and resources within a consistent WordPress framework.

A shared
reading structure.
The design uses a recognizable article structure around content that varies considerably in depth and format. Navigation, attribution, and related reading provide a consistent frame for text, images, charts, and country information.
The research and infographic in this case study are WES publication content. My contribution is the website experience and the WordPress foundation around it.

A little more
context.
What was your role?
My work covered UX design, custom web design, a custom WordPress theme, third-party integrations, security policies, and maintenance.
Is WENR a separate organization from WES?
WENR is World Education News & Reviews, a publication of World Education Services. This case study focuses on the publication’s editorial experience.
What do the research examples represent?
The country profile and infographic demonstrate the types of editorial content the site supports. My contribution here is the website experience and implementation; the research is WES publication content.
How is WENR different from WES Advisor?
WENR focuses on research in international education and global education mobility. WES Advisor reaches international students with student-facing content. Both contributed to WES’s organic reach, while serving different information needs.
Lessons from
the platform.
This project brought editorial discovery and reference use into the same platform. Designing the website meant considering where people enter, how they stay oriented within a long article, and how they find related information.
The work reinforced the value of separating the reusable reading structure from the specialist content it supports.
